LGBTQ-Specific: LGBTQ folks struggle with trauma symptoms, substance abuse, and difficult emotions at a higher rate than their heterosexual/cis-gender counterparts. This is not because LGBTQs have inferior makeups, but because LGBTQs are often treated differently/poorly, or because their needs aren’t properly considered, or because they simply feel “different” or “other”.
I am a gay human, and my empathy with these issues is real. As a therapist, I can offer assistance toward the stressors stemming from these issues:
Discrimination at school or work
Depression/anxiety
Self-harming behaviors
Suicidal thoughts
Familial and social rejection
Identity and discovery
Romantic relationship roles
Healthy boundaries
Gender transition
I offer a blend of EMDR and talk therapy. We’ll make a plan that’s right for you.
